How green are you?
Are you doing all you can to help save the environment or do you need to work harder to make a difference? Take Creme's environment quiz and find out.
1. How do you get to school?
You walk or ride your bike
You get the bus
You go by car
2. When you go shopping you:
Take a backpack with you and put everything you buy in there
Only accept a bag from the shop if it's a reusable fabric one
Take whatever bag the shop gives you, even if it's plastic or you don't really need another one
3. You're studying in your bedroom and your mum calls you downstairs for dinner. You:
Turn off the TV, radio, lights, computer and whatever else is turned on before you leave the room
Put your TV/computer/stereo on standby and turn off the light
Leave the room as it is so it's ready for you to come back to
4. What do you consider most when you're buying a new product?
That it was made in NZ
That it doesn't have much packaging, or the packaging can be recycled
Whether you can afford it or not
5. It's your turn to do the washing up. You:
Fill the sink with warm water and wash the dishes by hand
Load the dishwasher, make sure it's full and run it on an economy cycle
Put the dishwasher on, even if there's not much in there
How you scored:
Mostly As:
You're so green you put Shrek and Princess Fiona to shame! You're informed and active when it comes to doing your bit to save the world. You make sure you live by the three Rs - reduce, reuse, recycle - and you know that every little bit counts. To help make the world an even better place, try and influence your friends and family to follow your lead. The more people that live like you, the better!
Mostly Bs:
You're taking good steps to help the environment and are starting to be more aware of how you can help change the world. There are still a few more things you can do though. Did you know that turning your electrical appliances off rather than leaving them on standby makes a huge difference, because when something is on standby it's still using up electricity? The less electricity you use, the better it is for the world! So with a little more effort, you can be completely environmentally friendly!
Mostly Cs:
The environment is not big on your list of priorities right now and that needs to change! Just making a few small changes in your everyday life can make a big difference to the planet! For example, try walking, cycling or using public transport whenever you can, recycle as much as possible, save water by only using the dishwasher when it's full, buy locally made products that haven't had to be flown into the country, and turn off all your appliances and lights when you're not using them! Not only will you help your parents to cut down their electricity bills, you'll also help to save the world! Now that makes it seem worthwhile doesn't it?!
