Is your room a pit of despair or are you
a minimalist who appreciates a clutter-free environment?
1. You get home from soccer practice
and you: a) Dump your gear on the floor – head straight
into the kitchen or to watch TV.
b) Take your dirty stuff to the laundry – leave your shoes outside and
put the rest of your stuff in the funky boxes you bought specially for it.
c) Make a half-hearted attempt to sort your stuff out but end up leaving most
of it in a pile in the corner of your room. You’ll deal with it later.
d) Wash your clothes, clean your shoes and tidy the rest away in the closet
out of sight.
2. Your bedroom walls are covered
in: a) A mish-mash of cute boy and furry animal posters – even
though you’ve grown out of the fluffy bunny stage you just haven’t
got round to taking them down.
b) Huge and amazing murals of art you did yourself.
c) Photos of your family, friends, random posters and pictures that you liked
the look of.
d) Cream paint, with maybe an artwork or two specially chosen to match the
rest of your décor.
3. If you could design your ideal
bedroom it would be: a) Probably pretty much how it is now. You’re
not totally fussed about how it looks.
b) Feng shui-ed to within an inch of its life and full of the latest gadgets,
CDs, mags and games.
c) Covered in gorgeous silk cushions and all sorts of mementoes and handmade
crafts collected from around the globe.
d) Fuss-free, low-maintenance, wooden floors, big windows and matching furnishings
and paint.
4. Your fave colours to decorate
your room in are: a) Whatever; it’s not like you can see the walls – or
the floor – and your furnishings are just a mixture of random stuff.
b) Strong, bold colours like black, red and chocolate with highlights in something
amazing like silver.
c) Pinks, blues, warm yellows and gold.
d) Beige, cream, white and pale eggshell blue.
5. When you think of your room
you: a) Try and remember the last time you cleaned it … and
can’t!
b) Darn! I hope I shut the door so the cat doesn’t get in and knock over
my stack of CDs again.
c) Mmm… I can’t wait to get home and spend some time in there!
d) Oh no, I didn’t smooth my duvet out this morning! I hope no one sees
it all crumpled.
6. Apart from sleeping you use
your room for: a) A place to dump stuff.
b) A place to chill out, listen to the latest sounds, catch up on the latest
hot new things as seen in Creme.
c) Having two-hour long phone conversations with your besties, painting your
toenails, reading.
d) Somewhere to meditate, burn essential oils and get rid of the day’s
stress.
7. Your clothes are: a) In one great, big, dirty pile in the middle of your
room. You do the sniff test to see if anything is wearable and, in an
emergency, you wash something.
b) Organised into these cool, clear plastic tubs you found – shoes in
one, T-shirts in another and so on. You think you’re going to start an
interior design trend!
c) Your summer wardrobe is hanging where you can see it so you can make your
decision lying in bed each morning. Your winter gear is already neatly stored.
d) All hidden away in your closet.
8. Your celebrity
style icon is: a) Courtney Love.
b) Samaire Armstrong.
c) Jessica Simpson.
d) Gwyneth Paltrow.
9. When your bestie comes into
your room she usually: a) Hovers nervously on the edge of a chair, not too
sure where to put herself.
b) Flops down in the middle of your bed and makes herself at home right away.
c) Spends the first 10 minutes browsing through your CD and mag collection.
d) Isn’t too sure where your bed is under that huge mound of clothes
so opts for just standing.
10. Whenever your folks catch
sight of your room they: a) Sigh and shut the door so visitors can’t see in.
b) Ask you for advice on decorating the rest of the house to match!
c) Hint that maybe you should clear some of your old stuff out …
d) Ask if they can borrow your home theatre system.

1 – 10
Pristine and clean You like things to be neat, tidy and ordered.
Mess and clutter bother you and often you find you can’t
concentrate if things are out of order in your room. While you
aren’t precious about your space and are happy to share it,
it’s conditional on others respecting it and keeping it as
tidy as you do. You can’t sleep knowing your curtains aren’t
hanging straight or your jeans are lying in a crumpled heap on
the floor. You are a great organizer and can be relied on to remember
everyone’s birthday or special occasions – it’s
the little things that count! Your ability to see things from both
points of view in an argument means you don’t often get in
one; your friends turn to you when there’s trouble brewing.
11 – 20 Culture queen Music and culture are your passion – you’ve
got your finger on the pulse and you’re like a walking,
talking What’s On guide. In the holidays you’ve enrolled
in an art course and plan to spend most of your time at gigs
or art galleries with like-minded friends. Every gift you give
has a story or meaning behind it that relates to the person.
You could spend hours in a museum or gallery. You love anything
antique or Art Deco but this doesn’t mean you’re
old fashioned. Your friends think you’re a true fashionista
because you seem to have the ability to predict what’s
coming back into fashion and are daring enough to wear it before
anyone else does. You have a wealth of knowledge and your thirst
for information and adventurous spirit mean you would be the
best travel companion. On Who Wants To Be A Millionaire, you’re
the friend to call!
21 – 30 Fluffy
bunny Stuffed toys, flouncy furnishings and anything
girly and pretty are your style. You tend to be open and honest
with your friends, as well as a great listener if someone comes
to you with their problems. You give the best hugs when someone’s
feeling down and you are an unselfish shopper, constantly on
the lookout for stuff for others rather than you. Anyone entering
your room instantly feels welcome and gets a real sense of what
you are like. You find it hard to let go of things and may have
a tendency to hoard old school projects and the movie ticket
from your first date with your boyf. Perhaps a good spring clean
is in order … maybe it will make you realise the sky won’t
fall down just coz you didn’t save all the wrapping from
your Christmas gifts!
31 – 40 Messy
girl If archeologists were to uncover your room in
200 years time, they would probably think it was an old rubbish
tip! Your room doesn’t really reflect your personality;
more the fact that you are hardly ever in it to bother tidying
up. If you’re not in the family room watching TV or helping
with dinner you’re probably out and about playing sport
or hanging with your friends. As far as you’re concerned
your room is for sleeping in and it’s fine the way it is.
Why bother making your bed when you’re only going to sleep
in it again anyway? However, the chaos in your life does impact
on your ability to turn up on time. If you’re late meeting
friends they know you’re trying to find a matching pair
of socks or those earrings you really want to wear. You’re
not materialistic and see people for who they are, not what they
own or the labels they wear.
